“I usually travel using Hostels, as I believe accommodation is a complete waste of money. I'd like instead to use on holiday experiences, memories that last a lifetime. I never plan my trips & fell for a backpackers without looking into it. They were $80 for 5 nights @booking.com & of course just before I arrived the owner texted me cancelling accommodation, due to a BS excuse "closed for renovating for the wet season". Thinking discounting his sister business (another backpackers) for $30 pn was suffice. Usually around $40p/n. I arrived to the rundown hostel (even for my poor standards) & only paid parking available despite noting online that free parking was available. I definitely dodged a bullet there. I likely wouldn't have got any sleep from loud & boiling hot dorms. At Darwin Resort I paid around $80pn for a large, almost double cabin, with AC/DC. Including a generously sized shower, bathroom & a mini kitchenette. Had I not been travelling solo, it would have been the same cost as the 1 star hostel. I've travelled Australia & this resort was 5 stars. Every simple comfort available, ten times better than a 3 star motel. Staff were very friendly. Electric access card, including electronic locked doors were not only convenient, but made me feel extremely secure as well. This place is central to everything. With most places only a 10min drive away, outside the popular National Parks. I'll definitely be back for the Supercars in June. With Hidden Valley 10mins away also. Airport much the same. Even if I had all the money in the world, I wouldn't choose anything better than what I got. Thank you P.S No soap was supplied in bathroom & dishes were expected to be washed, without dishwashing detergent. That would be my only complaint & honestly I wouldn't have even used any of it if I knew they couldn't have been washed by guests properly. I ended up using the supplied bottle of body wash in the shower for everything. Not sure that's quite suffice to disinfect hands or dishes.”
